Loving Kindness
For the past decades, I have been focusing on the mantra, “Jesus Christ, Agape Love.” Agape is a Greek word defines this form of love as “the steady intention of the will to another’s highest good.”
I founding the past year or so that doing a form of meditation where I breathe in the words “Jesus Christ,” (visualizing his loving demeanor) and breath out “Agape Love” (visualizing a person who I want to send love to.)
I can do this for hours at a time, for I know so many people, many of them who have hurt me deeply. Or, people who are famous, who I think are doing hurtful things.
I have felt so much peace doing this meditation, and my compassion and forgiveness for people have increased.
I try to remember to direct the words “agape love” to myself. I need to love myself with agape love, along with feeling Jesus love for me.
I felt encouraged to read this quote, and this article, reassuring me that this mediation is keeping me on the right track including physically as I strengthen my vagus nerve.
“One of the best ways to increase your own vagal tone is to focus on others: by directing thoughts of compassion, love, and goodwill towards them via meditation! Giving always comes back to us in the most unexpected ways.” Read more in this article:
