The video shown above has suggestions on how to keep your brain healthy. These are the fastest ways to stimulate brain cell growth. Below I have listed the 3 main areas that Elizabeth recommends working on. Isn’t it wonderful? Living at Wellspring is a natural way to increase our brain health.
Exercise: We will be exercising when we work on the land, building our homes, creating food forests, gardening, and we will have more clarity and our moods will be better just by exercising. Chronic stress can be alleviated as well. Taking a jog, walking to the waterfall quickly, working on repairing the driveway, can get our heart rate going.
Providing a stimulating environment of new learning: There will be so many challenges. New things we will be learning all the time, like identifying wild edibles, learning how to do permaculture design, figuring out how to solve all the problems related to off-grid living, learning new models of governing ourselves with sociocracy. Resolving conflicts and figuring out how to prevent conflicts will be new learning as well.
Diet: If a food is brightly colored, it is supposed to be good for brain health. We will be eating lots of brightly colored greens, mostly wild. Once the summer garden is up, there will be a wide array of colored vegetables including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and squash. We have black berries growing wild, and we are trying to get them to be more tame.

Community and the brain
This articlefrom ALO House Recovery Center shows how community is good for our brain.
Here is an excerpt:
“But community has long-been the foundation upon which healthy relationships, families, and neighborhood economics have been built on. It is integral to both our personal wellbeing as well as the underlying safety and wellness of the neighborhoods we inhabit.”
