Side effect of Coronavirus: waking up.

I found this on this website.  I don’t agree with his view that people who don’t believe in Jesus are going to hell. But I agree with Clayton Jennings about how we in the western world are waking up to now experience the suffering of many who are in less privileged locations.

“There is an unofficial side-effect of the Coronavirus that is worth acknowledging: “Sleepy Populations May Experience A Sudden Awakening to Proper Perspective.” It’s a mental side-effect of the virus that affects both the uninfected and infected alike. Close proximity to the virus can cause this side-effect to occur in the minds of those living in intellectual and spiritual hibernation.”

When I was 19, in 1975, after traveling for 13 months in places where many people were suffering, I woke up to the fact that my situation in the United States was so much better than that of those in places like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, India and Sri Lanka.

This awakening, I am happy to say, drove me to the place where I realized that I wanted to get out of the materialistic rat-race that I was in. I started posting my book, Travels to the East, on this blog.

I feel so grateful that for the past 45 years I have been on a journey to find a way to live in community where we can all live in harmony. Now, more than ever, I need to apply everything I have learned. I was made for such a time for this.

There is no one living in Wellspring Community yet. But I foresee that as things get worse, people will see that the challenges of living in community are much more inviting than the challenges of living in a police state.

I can’t guarantee, of course, that we will be safe in a rather remote rural area. I do believe that with prayer and mutual support, there is much more likelihood that we will be safe. We live in a neighborhood where people can watch out for each other and help each other in times of need. I pray that we will all rise to the occasion, set aside our differences, and work together during this crises.

There is no way we can take up arms and fight with the kind of weapons that the enforcers of law will have. Although residents at Wellspring can have firearms, and can use them if they wish against invaders, my dream is that many will come who will use non-violence as our defense.

I also hope and pray that the military, police, sheriffs, and national guard will realize how they are simply pawns in the deep state’s insatiable greed for power.
