This morning I may have found my ideal morning routine. At least I am getting close. The only thing I didn’t do was journaling. I will include that in my mid morning meditation time.
I imagined what it would be like to have other people doing the routine with me, and I could envision it working.
Here is what I did:
I set my alarm for 3:30. Yay! I got up, washed my face and peed.
I put on the affirmation video that I posted above on.
While I listened, I did Wim Hoff breathing–about 40 cycles breathing in and out. I set my timer for 10 minutes just in case I fell asleep. I loved the peaceful listening time. I felt so inspired. Wim Hof breathing has enabled me to hold my breath for about 8 minutes, and I feel so deeply calm when I do that, and more receptive to these affirmations.
After about an hour of meditation, I took my cold shower. I was inspired by listening to a Wim Hof interview about how great cold showers are and had a few more tips as to how to do the shower with more joy. I alternate the cold, after about 2 minutes, with hot shower (which is blissful) and then cold again.
I imagine that while we are taking turns in the shower, others can be working on journaling. One technique I like is Immanuel Journaling.
I did my reading from Emotionally Healthy Spirituality. I sense that I will be developing my own daily reading from the Bible, but for now it is inspiring. Scripture reading, prayers, and meditation are part of this practice.
I did about 15 minutes of yoga, ending with a 3 minute headstand.
It was only 7:30. I was good to start my more active part of the day accomplishing my many goals. !
I made a list of all the things I wanted to do in the day (which I normally like to do the night before), and within an hour got some of the most essential things done. I am trying out a system where I get 3 of the most important things done first.
I am looking forward to a very productive day, especially now that I am on the one meal a day plan. I need to keep busy so the time will go fast until 5pm when I get to eat!
Oh, look–it is 9:57–almost time for my 10am sacred pause. I am so happy to get out of the habit of snacking during my breaks. I am replacing that with a guided meditation and Wim Hoff breathing. I think I will do my one meal a day affirmation video.
You know, Jesus said, “”It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” Mt. 4:4
I am starting to live this truth! I truly would rather do a meditation than eat! And I think my fasting life style is helping me to sleep less and get more done.
Here is my OMAD affirmation video. I just listened to it for about 15 minutes. I feel great!
Now I will do a dance for fun, then dive into my to do list.
