Developing inspiring traditions in the village

Part of creating a community is emulating the best in other communities. Learning about what traditions have worked historically will give us a stronger foundation for having a healthy community.

I thought this article was very inspiring, and I would love to practice this tradition that this African village practices. The basic idea is that when a woman discovers she is pregnant, she goes into the wilderness with trusted friends, and they pray and meditate. They discover the song of the child. Then that song is sung to child when she or he is born, at various stages of life, if the person goes astray, and at the end of a person’s life.

I feel deeply touched by this idea, and can imagine the Fruitful Vegan Village somehow adopting this tradition. What do you think? Is this something you would enjoy having done in a community you were part of?
