How I yearn to build food forests on the Wilberforce Village land. I also want to create a company where people can be employed by locals to create food forests in their urban yards. Wouldn’t that be a great way to alleviate food insecurity, increase health, and have a right livelihood for community members?
I just ordered this book on how to create a permaculture food forest. This can be done in an urban yard. I am especially excited because a few months ago I was hired to help a man get his rather unruly front and back yard under control. He is now excited about the idea of having a food forest in his yard. We’ve mainly been getting invasive weeds out, mostly with a mattock, covering the area with cardboard, then covering with mulch. In the spring we will start planting. Now I know how to move forward! I am the type of person who tends to jump into a project not knowing exactly what I am doing, but having faith that I will figure it out with the help of experts like Amy, who wrote this book. https://www.tenthacrefarm.com/create-food-forest/
This article is an excellent introduction to what a food forest is. https://www.tenthacrefarm.com/create-food-forest/
This video was so inspiring: You will have to click on the link to watch it on Youtube. One thing that was really useful was finding a very simple way of dealing with grey water.
Here is a description of that and the entire video:

I always love to read about the various uses for comfrey, a plant which I really enjoy growing. I learn something new every time. I have tons of comfrey growing. That is another cottage industry I want to start-growing permaculture plants and edible “weeds” https://www.tenthacrefarm.com/comfrey-uses/
