Animals have more friends than most of us realize. This directory gathers sanctuaries, advocacy and legal groups, science and research organizations, vegan networks, rescues, and faith-based voices working for animals, listed from A to Z with a short description, website, and public contact information for each.

A star (★) marks the groups that stood together as partners of the 2026 March to Abolish Animal Testing, a 207-mile walk from Albany, New York, to Marshall BioResources, a beagle-breeding facility in Wayne County, New York, from September 12 to 26, 2026.

Contact details come from each organization’s own website as of October 2026. Many small groups prefer their online contact forms, and most are small teams caring for many lives, so please be patient when you reach out.

A few insights

• Sanctuaries are only one part of the picture. Lawyers, scientists, filmmakers, photographers, musicians, teachers, and people of faith are all working for animals, each in their own way.
• Many of the smallest groups have no phone line and no paid staff. A kind note through their website, or a small donation, goes a long way.
• The March to Abolish Animal Testing brought together close to seventy groups of every size and kind. It showed what becomes possible when we stand side by side instead of competing.

How we wrote this

This directory was put together by Patricia Mikkelson, a resident of the Living Springs Log House in the Ozark hills of Arkansas, working with Claude.ai, an AI assistant made by Anthropic. Patricia and her friend Barbara Hulley began the list of organizations; Claude looked up each group’s website and public contact information, wrote the short descriptions, and arranged everything from A to Z. If your organization is listed and something needs correcting, please leave a comment and we will update it.
