I first learned about Immanuel Approach when I was trying to decide which Christian communities I wanted to visit in 2013. Here is an article describing some of my experiences.
Reba Place Fellowship jumped out at me as a very inspiring Christian community, and when I scoured their website I found an article about how the Immanuel Approach helped their community work through issues that were threatening to divide people. I can’t even find that article now!
When I saw that a community was healing because people were healing their inner child with Jesus help, I was so inspired. I did research on Immanuel Approach, and connected with Jesse who was teaching Immanuel Approach. She offered to introduce me to Karl Lehman when I came to Chicago. Jesse, Karl, and his wife Charlotte, met for lunch in Chicago. I loved our connection! I felt an instant feeling of kinship, and have continued to feel that way. I’ve stayed in touch with Karl over the years, and he always would give me words of encouragement.
I also had a wonderful experience with Immanuel Approach when a practitioner at Reba Place Fellowship offered to facilitate a session with me.
I’ve practiced this method with my children, friends, and doing solo work. I know that connecting with Jesus in this healing way has transformed my life in so many ways.
I realize now that I have not been focusing on Jesus as much as I need to during these trying times. I really need to be focusing on this spiritual technique which I know has been life-changing for me.
Here is one of many testimonies of how someone healed childhood memories using Immanuel Approach. Having Jesus help us heal attachment wounds is incredibly powerful.
Here is a teaching series by Karl Lehman. I love his teachings. However, I wish that he would not use a memory in a pizza parlor as an example. I want to be understanding. I don’t think doesn’t realizes that we vegans are repelled by such a memory as we think about how much animals suffered. Yet I don’t want to throw the baby out with the bathwater, and I’m sure my non-vegan, cheese-loving friends will enjoy the example.
Here is a PDF describing the importance of opening prayer.

You can find lots of amazing free resources here on Karl Lehman’s website.
I like this method of connecting with Jesus by journaling. It is not the Immanuel Approach, but it is helpful for having a daily journaling practice, and when you can’t connect with a person. You can find the method here.
