This blog is a great resource. I look forward to exploring it more. http://www.practicalselfreliance.com. Being self-reliant within a community is so important to me. The more we can be self-reliant, the easier it is to deal with such things as vaccine mandates and the whole cancel culture. Of course, the environment benefits as well as our own health. Living in community, helping each other to hone and develop our skills which lead to being able to live off the grid and eat the food we grow empowers us. We can then help our neighbors do the same. Having cooperation where we trade, give and receive, have work parties, and have learning centers that help home-schoolers–all are important in addition to being self-reliant and self-sufficient. Those words are a bit misleading–aren’t they? Self sufficient and self reliant–it would be hard for one person to do all the things it takes to survive, although I know it can be done. But I don’t think that is how God created us to be.
I was especially drawn to the ideas of fermenting turmeric. I also want to grow turmeric. I love the idea of growing and fermenting super foods. Longevity spinach and moringa are the two super foods I am growing right now. And of course wild greens are super foods. This website includes topics I am passionate about: foraging, permaculture, and off grid living.
I write these short articles because I don’t want to forget important websites like this one, and I hope that people will benefit from these resources. I also want to help you get to know me better and you can decide if you want to explore living in the community I dream of.
