Charlotte Mason Homeschooling Method: An inspiration for the future school I envision

Having a school at Wilberforce Village parents run by community members and other interested people, is something I am passionate about. Of course it will be vegan. Educating children as a whole person is so essential if we are going to build a world where all live can thrive. Here is a summary of what the Charlotte Mason approach is:

The Charlotte Mason method is based on Charlotte’s firm belief that the child is a person and we must educate that whole person, not just his mind. So a Charlotte Mason education is three-pronged: in her words, “Education is an Atmosphere, a Discipline, a Life.”

I found her reasons for chosing Charlotte Mason very compelling. How I wish I had learned about this method when I was homeschool. I did use many of her ideas because of others who taught me about child raising and homeschooling. But I think my children, their fathers, and I would have thrived using this approach.

The Miracle Morning is a concept I learned a few years ago. I learned that starting out your day right with such things as exercise, visualization, meditation, journaling, affirmations and reading is super important. What if I had learned about the importance of starting the day out right when I was a young child? I’m sure I would have easily incorporated the miracle morning concepts more easily when I was older.

I look forward to learning more about the Charlotte Mason philosophy. I have 2 grandsons now, and I want to be a positive influence. I think her teachings will help me.
