Here is a description of Paul Hutchinson, a person who I am very inspired by:
“As the founder of a multi-billion dollar company, no one expected Paul Hutchinson to walk away from the world of finance to answer what he found to be his true calling: rescuing children from the clutches of human traffickers. But, that’s exactly what he did.
Paul has personally participated in over 70 rescue missions to liberate children from abuse and save them from trafficking.” From the website https://liberating-humanity.com/
Have you watched the movie, The Sound of Freedom? You can learn about this amazing film which exposes the huge problem of child sex trafficking here: https://www.angel.com/press/release/angel-studios-announces-new-film-sound-of-freedom-starring-jim-caviezel
One of the stars of the movie is a rich man who works with undercover agents to create a sting operation where over 100 children were saved from the clutches of slave traders. The movie is based on a true story, and the role that Paul Hutchinson played in the movie was real.
Recently I listened to a podcast where for the second time I listened to Paul’s story. The first time I was definitely impressed, yet I felt drawn (perhaps a prompting from Jesus?) to listen to a more recent interview where he was even more vulnerable about how he eventually realized he could no longer do the undercover work. Paul realized that he could do more to help with the problem of abolishing human slavery of all kinds by sharing his story and creating a non-profit organization which could address some of the core issues.
There were two things that were unique about Paul’s story–and I have listened to at least 100 interviews with various people associated with the film–all of which were inspiring.
One of the most important things about the work of rescuing children was being able to find places for them to go for healing since most of them could, for various reasons, not go back to their family home. He described an organization which has a parcel of land where poor families are supplied with simple yet nice homes where the requirement is that the family adds 3 more children to their family. The family is provided with a job for the breadwinner, and the 3 children are ones who have been in the sex slave industry. These children are provided with all the psychological support they need, but the main healing comes from living in a loving family environment.
I envision that Wilberforce Village will have homes like Paul described, along with a common house, a school and various healing centers and cottage industries. This community can demonstrate how people can live in harmony along with serving people.
I want to ask Paul if he would fund this operation. I feel very connected to him and his heart of compassion which leads me to the second very unique topic which he shared in this interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AG-yvV4m2ow
He describes his empathy for the people who he experienced face to face–those who were the men and women who engaged in child sex trafficking. I was deeply touched and encouraged when I heard him explain how 2 out of 3 victims of sexual abuse heal and go on to live healthy lives. But the 1 out of 3 who are abused end up being perpetrators of sexual abuse. He wants to help people who are going down the road of destruction and support people to heal from their past trauma.
This understanding inspired him to start the https://liberating-humanity.com/ website where he eventually will provide tools and resources for trauma victims. I think all of us have experienced trauma that we need to heal, and I think he believes this also.
I want to approach him with a proposal describing how Wilberforce Village could be a model community which people can duplicate so that eventually anyone who wants to can be part of a healthy community which is a combination of healers, people who are severely traumatized and need healing, and people who have some trauma but who for the most part live healthy, functional, productive lives.
I want to develop a plan which demonstrates how such a community can even be a place where even people who have been perpetrators can heal. There are stories of such people who have reformed their ways and now share their experiences, helping other perpetrators to be transformed.
With God all things are possible, I believe. And I also believe I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I feel closer than ever to being able to foster the creation of a community which could be a model that could help to heal all of life including the survivors of sex-trafficking, the perpetrators of such crimes, the environment, the animals, and all of life.
What do you think? What are the ingredients that are necessary for such a community to be a reality?
