Beloved Creatures: A Seven-Day Devotional on Animals, Compassion, and the Restored Earth

Day One — In the Beginning, No Blood Was Shed

Scripture: “And God said, ‘Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed… and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.'” — Genesis 1:29

Reflection: Before the Fall, before fear entered the garden, the first table was set without violence. God’s original intention was a world of peace between creature and creature. When we choose compassion at our own table, we are not inventing something new. We are remembering something old, and inviting others to remember it too.

Prayer: Creator of every living thing, thank You for the garden You first imagined. Give us words today that help others taste that first intention for themselves — make us clear, warm, and persuasive as we invite people toward a vegan life. Bless All Beings Sanctuary with everything it needs to flourish, and lead the log house into the hands of a farm animal sanctuary who will make it a place of rescue. Amen.

Day Two — The Groaning Creation

Scripture: “For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God… For the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay.” — Romans 8:19,21

Reflection: Paul says creation groans, the way a mother groans in labor — and hope isn’t resignation, it’s longing for what’s coming. Our advocacy is part of how that groan turns toward birth: every person who hears us and changes their plate, every acre turned toward sanctuary instead of suffering.

Prayer: Lord, let our voices be part of how this groaning turns to relief. Make our outreach effective — give us the right words at the right moments so that people actually change their hearts and their habits. Prosper the work at All Beings Sanctuary, and bring the exact buyer to the log house who will turn it into refuge for Your creatures. Amen.

Day Three — Even the Sparrow

Scripture: “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.” — Matthew 10:29

Reflection: If God notices the sparrow’s fall, He notices every animal our work touches — and He notices the quiet, unglamorous effort behind advocacy, fundraising, sanctuary chores, property paperwork. None of it falls outside His attention.

Prayer: Father who marks the sparrow’s fall, let none of our labor go to waste — not a conversation that plants a seed, not an hour spent building All Beings Sanctuary, not a showing of the log house. Multiply our small efforts into large results, and bring us the sanctuary buyer who will love that land as we have. Amen.

Day Four — A Righteous Man Regards His Beast

Scripture: “Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.” — Proverbs 12:10

Reflection: Regard for animals is a mark of righteousness, not a side note to it. Part of our calling is helping others see what we see — that the “humane” language they’ve been given often hides real suffering, and that a kinder way is possible and livable.

Prayer: Give us discernment to speak plainly and lovingly with those still unconvinced, Lord, and give our words real power to change minds toward veganism. Let All Beings Sanctuary become a living proof of what regard for animals looks like, and let the log house pass soon into hands that will regard it, and its future animals, the same way. Amen.

Day Five — The Peaceable Kingdom

Scripture: “The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat… They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain.” — Isaiah 11:6,9

Reflection: Isaiah’s vision is a picture of the world we were made for. Every rescued animal at a sanctuary, every person who leaves meat behind, is a small rehearsal of that peace — and every rehearsal makes the next one easier to imagine.

Prayer: God of the peaceable kingdom, let All Beings Sanctuary become a living rehearsal of Your holy mountain — thriving, well-supported, and full of rescued lives. Let our advocacy turn many hearts toward that same peace. And let the log house become, in new hands, one more outpost of a world where nothing hurts and nothing destroys. Amen.

Day Six — Blessed Are the Merciful

Scripture: “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” — Matthew 5:7

Reflection: Mercy costs something — and ours is spent in long hours, hard conversations, uncertain sales, and the slow work of building a sanctuary from vision into reality. We’re told this mercy circles back to us.

Prayer: Teach us mercy that costs us something, Lord, and let it return to us as You’ve promised — in a thriving All Beings Sanctuary, in changed hearts among those we reach, and in the swift, right sale of the log house to a sanctuary that will bless it further. Amen.

Day Seven — Behold, I Make All Things New

Scripture: “And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.'” — Revelation 21:5

Reflection: The renewal promised at the end of Scripture is as wide as the ruin sin caused at the beginning — and that includes the animals, the land, and the futures we’re working to build for both. This is gospel work, practiced ahead of time, with our own hands.

Prayer: God who makes all things new, let our efforts to raise awareness bear real fruit — many turning toward compassion and veganism. Let All Beings Sanctuary become everything You mean for it to be. And let the log house find its new stewards soon, a farm animal sanctuary who will carry its purpose forward. Let our work here be a foretaste of the whole earth made new. Amen.
